About Our Products
Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.” – Albert Einstein
It is one of our core tenets for everything we do at RevitWorks. If someone can use our content straight away with minimal explanation, then we have done our job.
We have crafted them to make them as simple as possible for the users, by ordering, grouping and naming the parameters logically. The controls you need all the time are right up front, and the complicated stuff is a little further down. As users develop their expertise with families and parameters they can delve into the complexities if they wish.
Using the analogy of a builder, the builder needs to know how to fit a door in a wall, not how the door is made in the factory. That is exactly how we have put our families together. All the parameters are editable, however we have paid particular attention to ensure that the parameters you need all the time are right there for you.
RevitWorks content and tools are designed for Revit users of all skill levels, so even novice users will find them a joy to use.
Reuse & Recycle - Components are the key
Just like a builder can go and fit the same type of handle onto many different door panels we can take one handle family and use it in a door, curtain panel or even a cupboard family.
We know that it is more efficient for Revit if the solid geometry is modelled directly in the host family, but because we are providing generic content rather than manufacture or product specific components, our experience shows that the benefit to the user of using nested components far outweighs the (usually negligible) performance overhead.
Make Revit work for the user - not the other way round.
Component Swapping
We have crafted the RevitWorks families using nested components, therefore you can easily replace one component with another similar component.
There are several ways of doing this in Revit, but we have found that one particular method works better than the others. As long as you follow this method and a few simple rules, you will be swapping components in a flash.
Thinking about the Whole Process
In crafting the RevitWorks content, we have considered the whole process that BIM requires; from preliminary design to developed design through to completed documentation. Much of this is explained with the videos and technical information that is provided with each product. RevitWorks content can be used “out-of-the-box” or easily customised to suit the process and standards you may already have in place.
We also provide a Tailor-made consultancy service to help you to develop your office processes and protocols including standards, templates, custom-built families and applications.
Glasnost & Perestroika (Openness, Transparency & Mass Initiative)
We believe there should be no secrets in how the RevitWorks families are put together. In fact we want to tell you exactly how they work. That is why you will see many tutorials, videos, FAQ’s and discussions on this web site that we hope will explain the finer points of our products.
This will allow you to actually take full ownership of the products and how they work, and feel confident that you will be able to make them do exactly what you want them to do.
